A classic mismatch on paper, the Rhinos were able to put the Bears to sleep for two periods, until the Bears struck not once but thrice in the third period defeating the Rhinos 5 to 2. The game was a“real treat”to play as Super Referee Kevin Kennedy was in town to host a clinic on refereeing. A very well refereed game some said, but at a critical junction in the game, linesmen Mal Turner was quoted as saying,“Yeah that’s too many men…”but was overturned by Kennedy when he said he didn’t see it, although everyone saw that the Bears had too many men after the puck was dropped and they didn’t even try to hide it. I don’t follow the rules much but isn’t that the job of the linesmen? It was 2-1 Bears at that point and the momentum obviously swung in the Bears favor after the missed call by an egotistical maniac bent on reshaping the rules of hockey in Taiwan.
In the end, Dave Campbell was held pointless (because he was busy shadowing the equally pointless O'Neill) and once even cried to the referee that his shot was in even though it hit the side of the net (ed. note; In Mr. Campbell’s defense, three tears is NOT crying!). The Rhinos J.P. Grimard had a very strong game scoring the first Rhinos’goal and generally manhandling the opposition proving that he is one of the strongest players in the league and has been taking every Rhino loss to heart. Watch out for this guy in the playoffs.
For the Bears, rookie sensation Mike Thornburn had a five point night and was still effective after Rhino“has been”O’Neill“turned goon”flattened him off the face-off and was heard calling Thornburn“a f---ing muppet”yet no Bear came to Thornburn’s defense allowing O’Neill to skate away in glee.
No Bear came to Thornburn’s defense.
(ed. note; did anyone else see this? I think O’Neill has lost so much, he’s starting to hallucinate )
Three Stars
# 1 Mike O’Neill
# 2 Mike Thornburn
# 3 Dave Campbell (because he’s slumping like Sundin in the playoffs and we feel bad for him.)
- Mike O’Neill
