Although all Rhino players knew they were robbed of a tie, they still held their heads high and were satisfied with their 1-0 lose to the Lowly Lions.
Some people would call this loser talk; however the Rhinos played a very strong game and should have walked away with plenty of goals if it were not for the lucky goaltending of Mario Belleview, the other French guy in the league.
The Rhinos came out strong right from the start and had chances almost every shift. The team finally had three lines and coach JP was able to find the right balance within all three lines so that the team might just find some cohesiveness before the playoffs arrive. However, Lion “late season Shelly” Josh Smith made heads turn as he scored in the third period to put the Lions up by one for the win. Smith went coast to coast, and drilled a quick snap shot under the crossbar, blocker side (ok I have no idea as I was leaning over on the “new bench” trying to catch my breath).
As far as a 1-0 games go, this one was pretty exciting with the crowd really getting into it. However, there are always a few bad apples, and some Wolves players in the crowd were relentless with their heckling of the Rhino players. Maybe they feel threatened by the Rhinos scratching at the Wolves door or they are all just gimps complete with snooker ball in mouth, but whatever the reason, sometimes jokes can go too far.
Three Stars:
#1 Mario Beaulac - Lions
#2 Josh Smith - Lions
